My name is Zaynab Faqeeri, and I’m a Business Analyst Intern at CoStar Real Estate Manager for summer 2025. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at what a typical day looks like for CoStar interns.

8:30 AM

I usually get to the office a little before 8:30 AM. The Atlanta office has a modern, welcoming atmosphere with floor to ceiling windows which offer views of the surrounding high rises.

One of my favorite parts of our office is having snacks and coffee readily available! Our Culture and Engagement Team provides a snack table that rotates locations, and this week it’s placed by the interns. I’ll grab a granola bar, which is usually my breakfast, before settling in at my desk. I spend the first few minutes greeting the other interns, checking emails, reviewing my calendar, and writing a to-do list for the day.

9:00 AM

Lately, I’ve been focused on refreshing and modernizing our Project Management Playbook. The Playbook includes protocols, resources and detailed processes for all phases of a project. I leverage AI-driven tools and ensuring they align with our updated brand guidelines. It’s been an intriguing challenge that’s taken up most of my time.

10:30 AM

Our manager arranged a series of Executive Leadership Team meetings with the heads of each department, giving us the opportunity to learn how each team contributes to making CoStar Real Estate Manager such a successful and innovative organization.

This day, the interns and I headed to a meeting with Mark McDonald – our president. Mark shared key strategic initiatives and provided insights into the company’s future. It was a great opportunity to learn more about the bigger picture and how our work ties into the company’s goals.

12:00 PM

One of my favorite parts of the day…lunch time! The interns and I usually eat together in the break room on the 15th floor. The view is always striking, and the stocked fridges make lunch super convenient. Recently, we’ve been branching out and will sometimes go to Citizen’s Market in Phipps Plaza or Lenox Square for lunch. It’s a fun change in scenery and the walk over is a nice break from our desks. Lunchtime conversations can range from updates on our projects to debates on whether pineapple pizza is acceptable (it’s not).

2:00 PM

In the afternoon, I prepare for upcoming meetings, which typically include a mix of project check-ins, career development discussions and shadowing calls across various departments.

I also meet regularly with my mentor, Curtis, who provides career guidance and helps answer questions that come up throughout my internship. His support has helped me think through challenges, better understand the industry, and develop professionally.  On this day, I met with my manager to review the progress of wrapping up my current project. We discussed the next steps and potential upcoming projects.

4:00 PM

In the late afternoon, the interns and I join the weekly Intern Speaker Series. Each week features someone from the company sharing their career path, insights or updates on new advancements. We reserve a conference room to watch together.

This week’s speaker was Michael Desmarais, the Chief Human Resources Officer. He shared tips on how to make the most of an internship, emphasizing the importance of putting your best foot forward and treating the experience like a 10-week interview. It’s a great way to learn more about the company while spending time with the interns.

5:30 PM

I wrap up my day by checking off anything I’ve completed and writing down what I did for the day. This helps me keep track of my growth throughout the internship. After that, it’s time to face the infamous Atlanta traffic and head home.

And that’s a day in the life of a CoStar Real Estate Manager intern!
